"I can't believe it. This place has hardly changed." The officer whispered to himself, standing in the middle of the lobby. He hadn't been there for at least a year. Which he surprised himself with. He had worked here at one point. Now, that hardly meant a thing. To anyone. Kyle looked down at his uniform, then the NYPD patch on his shoulder. It wasn't the same, that was for sure. He was a good officer, in both areas.
A small smile came over his pale face. He had made a compromise. The tall black haired man was both an ASPCA cop, and an NYPD cop. He had been told it was against the rules, it wouldn't be done. He was crossing two different agencies. He had succeeded though. On his left shoulder was the NYPD patch, on his right, ASPCA. A special made unfirom for him, and he liked it.
Truthfully, he had missed this place. He missed the animals. But if he transfered back, he would miss a lot about the cop stuff. Though at this point, he was just lucky he had a job anywhere. Lucky he had a home.
Kyle looked around the counter, around the whole lobby. Misty wasn't there. Her bed wasn't there. Her food and water dishes weren't there. He frowned. He had hoped she would be here. At this point, nobody was there. The person at the front desk had gone back for some things, leaving the well muscled policeman to her job. He leaned back on the counter, resisting his old habit of sitting on top of it. That was a childish habit he needed to get rid of.
He looked around, hoping to see another officer or staff person. Maybe, hopefully, someone he recognized.

It was your normal, every day at the ASPCA, a few adoptions, lots of paperwork, new animals came in, whether they were abandoned or abused. A familiar face came from the kennels, too busy looking down at a clipboard, every now and then scribbling something on it. Something caught the corner of her eye and she turned her head. "I'd ask for you not to....hold the phone." The pen fell from her hand and clattered on the floor. "Kyle?"
It had been a long while, the two went their separate ways...well, Sara stayed behind as an ASPCA officer, comfortable with her current job. They kept in touch, until things got too busy and it was near impossible. Finally realizing her pen was on the floor she bent down and picked it up, but looked back at the tall figure sitting on the desk.

Kyle looked over as she spoke. His eyes widened. The voice... the face. He quickly tried to stand, at the same time falling forward fla on his face. He wasn't sure how that happened, but he was surely emberassed by it. He grabbed his dropped keys from the floor and slowly stood up some, just enough so he could look over the counter at her before he stood up completely.
"Sarah!" He finally managed to say, staring in disbelief. "You still work here? Really?" He moved around the desk and toward her. He got close to hugging her, then quickly took a few steps back and put his hands behind his back, giving a slight smile at her. "You're really still here... wow."

Well that was unexpected and it took a bit of self restraint to not laugh. "'Course I do! Wow.. it's been a while." A warm smile spread over her face as she placed the clipboard and pen on the desk. "How have you been? What Brings you here?" Already it seemed that her day lightened up quite a bit. But loading someone with questions was never a bright idea, but Sara couldn't help herself.

Kyle gave a slight nervous laugh at himself, scratching the back of his neck. "I... didn't expect to find anyone I knew here." He admitted. "I thought everything but the building had changed... even Misty is gone..." Kyle said with a sigh. He looked her over. She didn't seem much different. To him at least. Though he mostly just looked at her face. "I've been fine... Doing good as a cop... catching bad guys and all that stuff." He then gave a larger, real smile. "And I work here again."

"Yeah, a lot of things have changed, an--" She stopped dead. "You're working here again? Really?" Her smile grew larger and she was lucky she placed the clipboard down. "That's great, Kyle!" Ok, her day went from dull too eventful and exciting.

Kyle nodded. "I noticed that a lot has changed." He then nodded again. "Yes I am." He said. "Look at the uniform." He pointed to the ASPCA patch. "I'm both now. Consider me a... extra special officer." He said with a smirk. He looked around, just thinking for a minute. He turned his attention back to Sara. "How many other officers still work here?" He asked her. "Or is it just you that is still here from that time."

It was great just seeing Kyle again, but even better that she'd see more of him now. "A few special investigators are still around, but other than that, It's just me. Jack drops down for a visit every now and then, but he settled down with his family." Sara said, the smile still not fading from her face.

Kyle nodded. "Well, at least there re a couple people still working here that I'll know." He came towards her, giving in to the urge and hugging her. "I missed you." He told her. "A lot." He added afterward with a smirk, stepping back again and giving a smile toward her. "So... you have a family yet?" He asked. He didn't, he didn't even have a girlfriend, or an adopted kid. Or a pet either.

"I've missed you, too." That brief hug made her insides squirm in a good way. "More than you'd think" She added in a low murmur. She looked up at him and smirked. "I can't even keep a date." There was some humor there..some... After Mia had..well...you know, she never really took to having another pet, let alone date. Her schedule cut into her personal life and made it near impossible.

Kyle smiled, watching her. "I can't either. Never could before, still can't." He sighed and shook his head. "Anyways... I'm glad to be back here and..." He trailed off, watching as a young officer came into the shelter from outside, a large dog practically dragging him across the floor, the man having problems keeping standing. Kyle laughed, watching him try and control the dog that was at the end of the leash.
"Come on dog! Sit! Lay down! Stop!" The man begged. The dog stopped, looking back at him. The officer let out a sigh of relief, but the relief was very short. The dog jerked forward, and the man fell forward to the ground. The dog then sat down, watching him with a dog's smile. Kyle laughed.
"Who's that?" He asked Sara.

A curious expression crossed Sara's face as she watched the poor officer basically being dragged by the dog. "Mirano. He's...young." She said before crossing the room, looking down at the poor kid. "Need help?" Sara asked, glancing over at the dog who looked quite content with what he did.

Kyle nodded. "He's completely new I'm guessing." He said. "I've never seen him before." He watched, the man sitting up and brushing off his uniform, adjusting the badge so it was straight again and slowly stood up.
"I'm uh... fine..." Makaio said with a nervous laugh and smile. Kyle came over, taking the dog's leash from him. Makaio looked up at Kyle, his eyes wide. The officer was tall, strong, and by looking at his uniform, high up in whatever department. Whether it was here, or the regular police. That itself made him more nervous, and adding the way he came in, he suddenly didn't feel good.

Meeting a higher up was intimidating at first, but not as bad as anyone thought. Getting nervous was expected, yes.
"Well that's good." Sara said, catching on his nervous tone.

Makaio smiled slightly at them. He nodded at Sara. "I'm... gonna get going again..." He told her. "To um... Go check out another report I mean..." he laughed nervously, turning to leave, only to run into Kyle. He yelped, jumping backwards and tripping over himself. He fell back, landing on his butt on the floor. He cringed, scratching at the back o his neck and looking up at Kyle in fear.
"And that is why the dog acted like he did with you." Kyle said, watching Makaio. The dog stood at Kyle's side, behaving well.
