Soft blue eyes followed the humans that walked back and forth through the kennels. The young and old, man and woman, tall and short, passed by every day. Now one or two stopped by to look at the dog in kennel 24, but they turned around to look into the next one. Sure treats, food, and water were given to him daily, but it just wasn't enough attention. He wanted a home, a person who would love and care for him, but none had even the slightest thought of adopting him. He was a large dog. Half German Shepherd, half Greyhound. Many thought he was skinny and that there was something wrong with his hips, but he wasn't. He had his hips slanted down, that was part of the shepherd, and he had a deep chest a slim figure, that was the greyhound in him. He wore a harness a lot of the time, but there was a cheap collar around his neck that had the numbers and letters on it - 43456 Adoptable- on it. Sure he could read, but the numbers meant nothing to him. What was more interesting was what th paper on the kennel door said.
Name - Yazu Sex - Neutered male Age - 3 years Species - Canine Breed - GSD/Greyhound mix ID# - 43456 Kennel - 24 Status - Adoptable Temperament - Excellent Notes: Good with all animals & all people & Retired service dog
Yazu was angered by the word retired. His old owner passed away, no one else wanted him. Why was he thrown in prison for it? He was a good dog. He did nothing to hurt anyone.
Yazu's attention went to a puppy that was going to a new home. The other dogs started to go insane, yet Yazu didn't make a sound. He just sat at the door of the kennel and watched the puppy wag his tail and yip happily. Yazu was thankful for the three brick walls surrounding him. It was quiet. The dog lapped up some water and lied down in his bed, looking at the dogs in front of him.

The soft whine from a wolf like animal could be heard from the back of a kennel. The noise seemed to be created by an orange-brown ball of fur stuck tightly into a corner. Dark green eyes were seen, giving proof that this wasn't just fur. Slowly and hesitantly brown paws stretched out from their place tucked under the body. The canine stood it's muscled legs holding it up strong. Claws made a clicking noise as the animal lifted a paw for a second to hit at the cage door in front of it. Tail hung between the animal's legs hiding the brown underside and tip of it. The dog's furry body quivered with fear as people walked by looking at her. Why were they looking at her? She managed to sit, her quiet whimper beginning once more. Brown chin and chest made it look as if she had just played in the mud, as did most of her markings. A brown tipped ear fell over the side of the animal's head, the left tan colored ear moved back in fear. Two small white fangs stuck over her chin, small but visible. Her right leg ringed with tan fur, her left with a different shade of brown. A collar hung from her neck, tight, but not choking. A number was printed on it, 64972, random in the animal's thoughts. THe tag on her kennel meant nothing, though said some things about her.
Name - Caini Sex - Female Age - 1 Year Species - Canine Breed - Alaskan Malamute ID# - 64972 Kennel - 30 Status - Adoptable Temperament - Shy, but Friendly Notes - Not quick to trust, good with people and animals
The dog looked around warily, not sure what any of these people meant to do to her, or any of the other animals. What went unseen and unmentioned on the white card, was the cause for the thin body under the thick fur. The cause for her shyness, and her inability to trust. The abuse she had once endured. They knew what it was, and she remembered it all so well each night it tormented her. Now she was behind cold metal bars, fed but not at all happy or comfortable.
(Her right ear is always flopped over.)

Yazu looked at Kennel 30. He never noticed the dog in there. "Only if the lock wasn't there...." He thought out loud. He knew how to open doors, but locks confused him. "I guess you don't know why were in prison do you?" he asked Caini. He noticed that she looked thin. "Here.." Yazu said a pushed the pig ear across the hall. It slid under the kennel door of kennel 30.
Emily awoke and looked around. "What the?" she wondered. She was outside in a large cage, too high for her to jump out. Snow was in her cage, but not in any others. High rock ledges and a small pond were there. "This isn't home..." She said and saw the carcass of a mountain goat. "Were am I?" she asked. People came to look at her. Emily saw the cave at the middle of the ledge and jumped to it, the small goat in her jaws. She placed it in a corner and let out a huge roar. Little kids started to cry and scream. "Sanny?!" she yelled for her tiger brother. Other large cats looked up and laughed at Emily. Emily walked back to the far end of the cave, not to be seen by anyone.
((she and sanny if you like are in a big cat sanctuary for a little bit. ASPCA had to i guess board them for a short period of time by the law. It was hard enough to keep the two from beeing put to sleep))

Caini was startled by the dog's voice, and jumped back, her reaction quick and scared. She looked at what the dog had given her. It smelled edible, she looked up "Prison?" She questioned, unsure of what a prison was. Her voice was soft and quiet, fearful of even her fellow canine.
Emerald eyes opened at the loud familiar roar. A huge orange creature jumped up, then growled at the sudden light. The tiger knew she was there, he knew it. "Emily!" He let out a loud roar, startling some other cats and children. He didn't care, he just ran towards his sister's scent, intent on finding her.

Yazu looked at the Malamute. "Sorry i didn't mean to scare you." He said and looked upset. He turned around, tail down low, and lied back down on his bed and looked at the dogs across him.
Emily's ears perked up when she heard Sanny. She climbed down for her cave and looked around. All she could see was a large fence a few toys a climbing jungle gym and the large rock ledge. SHe climbed up the jungle gym to get a better view. Sanny's cage was close to hers. She jumped down with a large thump and walked over to the fence. She could smell him. She ran into the fence and hissed. she was shocked by a volt of electricity. Her fur stood on end and humans laughed hysterically. 'Great electric fence' she said in her head. " Sanny! I can't get out!" She said in his direction. "Duh!" said a familure voice. The large white cheetah looked at Emily. Snow glanced at Sanny's cage. " Don't touch your fence. you'll get a worse shock." he said.

Caini looked at Yazu oddly, sitting back down. "What's prison?" She asked, not seeing how upset the other animal looked.
Sanny growled sitting right by the fence "What's going on Emily? This isn't home! They wouldn't do this to us!"

Yazu looked at the dog. "This prison. Caged up all the time, when i haven't done anything wrong. My owner died.... no one wanted me.... I was dragged to his this.... Place." He said and lied his head down. he missed home, the smells of food cooking, fresh grass, the rare bite of human food, rib bones..... tug a war, what has this world become?
Emily Licked her fur back down. She was confused... The blood of the goat she started to eat was on her muzzle. It brought back memories. She licked the snow. It was real. But how? It was a little to warm for snow. Maybe they froze the ground. She didn't care it wasn't home.
Snow purred. "The ASPCA had to give you up. I heard what you did. Killed two men. You are lucky you didn't get killed. Yum! Gazell for dinner!" he purred loudly and started to eat the food.

Caini looked at Yazu "This place is better than where I came from." She said looking at her brown paws "My owners never gave me anything. This place is like, the best I've ever been in. It's so scary though.."
"They wouldn't give us up!" Sanny growled at Snow "There must be some mistake, we have to get home!" He roared loudly "We... we wer just protecting our friends."

"Scary is the right word for it. I'm sorry for what your past owner did to you....I was a service dog....... But i guess not anymore.." He said in a low tone.
"Huh! Your friends who killed two other humans. Though they did save me once but that was a long while ago." Snow said and belched. "Not gonna eat your..." He looked to see what animal sanny had to eat. "Your boar....? Its good here. They give you what food your kin eat, the right habitat, fun toys, and best of all, lots of room to run around in.

Caini looked at the other dog "You'll be adopted. I heard the humans talking, they seem nice. Least the one's who come ev'ryday do."
Sanny looked at Snow "Those two humans tried to kill our friends first!" He growled and sat. "This isn't home." He said "This will NEVER be home!" He roared.

"No one likes me other that those people.... I guess its just cause I'm an older dog.... or a big dog." Yazu sighed.
Snow looked at Sanny. "Calm down.... The ASPCA person said they'd be back to get you two as soon as they can. Sheesh." The large cat yawned.
Emily hissed as kids tossed garbage at Emily. "Stupid cat" Or "That ones ugly" or even "That cat is so boring." Emily climed back up to her cave and sulked.

Caini looked across the hall "Wanna..." She looked away for a second "Be friends?" She asked, for once giving a slight wag of her tail
Sanny growled at Snow "That'd better be true." He looked towards the kids throwing stuff, snarling he stood. Fangs bared he ran at the fence jumping with a loud angered roar "Leave her be!" He roared with anger, ignoring the painful shock which added to his anger.

Yazu looked at Caini. "Sure!" he said and wagged his tail. "Too bad We can't go out for a walk.... that would be nice." He said.
Emily roared at the kids along with Sanny. Snow hissed, for he couldn't roar. Big cats were the only ones who could.
The kids scattered and screamed.
